BC’s Refugee Claimant Housing Referral System (BC CHARMS) connects refugee claimants to safe and suitable housing opportunities across the province of BC.

If you are a Refugee Claimant please contact a Settlement Worker to create a referral.

Emergency Shelters

Emergency shelters are temporary beds for people to sleep in overnight. For more information, please contact BC 211 by calling or texting 📞 2-1-1.

Refugee Claimants Transitional Homes

Refugee Claimants Transitional Homes are temporary homes for refugee claimants. Residents can stay in a transitional home for up to 6 months. For more information, please contact your Settlement Worker. If you do not have a Settlement Worker, please go to the Get Help page for more information.

 
 

Hotels and Motels

Hotels and motels are temporary apartments for people to sleep in overnight, for a few days, or a few weeks. You need to pay for a hotel, motel, hostel and Airbnb room for each night you stay.

Short & Long-Term Rentals

Short-term and long-term rentals can be found on different websites, including Craigslist, Kijiji, Zumper, and Facebook Marketplace. You can rent a place on these websites.

It is important to connect with your Settlement Worker to help you with renting a place.

Some people use scams to trick other people and get their money. These people are called scammers. Be careful about the scams on these websites. For more information about common scams, please go to the Top Tips page.
